  • US economic recovery depends on port investment

    “Between now and 2020, investment needs in the nation’s marine ports and inland waterways sector total $30 billion, while planned expenditures are about $14 billion, leaving a total investment gap of nearly $16 billion. Similarly, the investment needed at US airports totals close to $114 billion, with anticipated spending of $95 billion by 2020.”

  • Ro-Ro Carrier SC Line Adds Jaxport to Rotation

    Panama-based vehicle, truck and heavy equipment transport company SC Line is now calling on the Jacksonville Port Authority’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal as part of its USATRUCK roll-on, roll-off biweekly service, connecting the Florida port with Colombia, Panama and Venezuela.

  • Port Miami Deep Dredge project moves towards contracting phase

    The contracting phase of its project to deepen Port Miami’s channel to 50 feet has begun with the solicitation of bids by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2013 in time for the opening of the expanded Panama Canal in early 2015.

(i) Seminar on Port Statistics (in Spanish): On behalf of the Vice Admiral Mr. Frank Boyle, Chairman of the National Port Authority of Peru (APN) and the Executive Board of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CECIP) the CIP Secretariat is pleased to invite you to the "Seminar on Port Statistics" organized by the APN and the CIP of the OAS, to be held on November 29-30, 2012 in Lima, Peru.

(ii) The Third Work Session of the Executive Board of the CIP (CECIP) The Third work session of the CECIP will be held in person at the Organization of American States Headquarters in Washington DC on November 12 and 13, 2012.

(iii) The XII Ibero-American Course on Technology, Operations and Environmental Port Management is being held from Monday, October 15 to Friday, November 9 organized by Puertos del Estado de España and the CIP/OAS in Santander, Spain

(iv) CIP Magazine Volume 17: The CIP Magazine Volume 17 is in preparation and counts as hosts to the Venezuelan ports, through Bolivarian Ports S.A. Therefore, the edition will include information about the port system of Venezuela, its present and projected. The volume also includes information on ports across the continent.
